The chart below was designed to inform you of sanitary guidelines that may be applicable to your event according to a university study. Note that more restrooms may be needed if you wish to prevent people from waiting in lines.

Note: If alcohol is being served, add 15-20% more restrooms. Include 1 handicap restroom per 20 regular restrooms, or at least one handicap for public events. Hand washing stations should also be provided with restrooms in all food service areas.

Based on the anticipated male/female ratio at the events, you may order additional units. Studies have shown that women take, on average, 40% longer than men to use restroom facilities.

How to Use Event Planning Chart:

  • Determine how long the event will last.
  • Determine approximately how many people will attend your event.
  • With this information, use the chart to calculate the number of units needed to insure sanitary conditions.
